We are so excited to welcome you to our volunteer community!

If you are signed up to volunteer at our donation centre, please review the information below prior to your shift and please feel free to share this with anyone else who will be joining you!

Volunteers must be aged 12 or older to participate in opportunities at this location. One adult chaperone is required per every ten youth volunteers. 

Location: 3640 11A Street NE Calgary, AB T2E 6M7

Parking: Free parking is located on the south side of the building as well as on the street. The Donation Centre is able to accommodate bus parking. Please note that vehicles parked on our premises are left at your own discretion and that the Calgary Drop-In Centre is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property 

Dress Appropriately: For health and safety reasons as well as the protection of you and our clients, The Calgary Drop-In Centre requires that volunteers agree to dress modestly and appropriately for their assigned positions. Supervisors may ask volunteers to change their clothing or reassign roles if clothing worn provides suitability or safety concerns.

Volunteers are asked to comply with the following:

  • Comfortable, closed-toed shoes.
  • Clean, casual, and modest clothing.
  • Covered knees, shoulders, and midriffs.

Cameras: We love to see volunteers show off their photos, but we must ask that you please refrain from any use of your phone while around any shelter guests. Please do not take photos or videos of our clients and staff as this is restricted without their expressed and written consent. However, if you want to show off your team in a volunteer-only area, please do! And be sure to tag us @CalgaryDropIn

Greatest Needs: It would be impossible to do what we do without the generous support of the community. The following items are our current greatest needs for supporting vulnerable community members:

  • Tylenol / Advil
  • underwear (new)
  • towels (new or used)
  • toothbrushes
  • toothpaste (mini)
  • lip chap
  • hand warmers
  • tampons
  • socks
  • grocery store gift cards
  • $10 Tim Horton Cards
  • Calgary Transit tickets
  • small appliances
  • reusable coffee mugs
